Therefore, 2/5 is not greater than 4/7 and the answer to the question "Is 2/5 greater than 4/7?" is no. Note: When comparing fractions such as 2/5 and 4/7, you could also convert the fractions (if necessary) so they have the same denominator and then compare which numerator is larger. Is 2/5 greater than 4/8?

Hope it is helpful:)

Given:

2:5 or 4:7- which is greater?

Solution:

To find the greater fraction first make there denominators equal,

\[ \Rightarrow \frac{2}{5} \times \frac{7}{7}\,or\,\frac{4}{7} \times \frac{5}{5}\]

\[ \Rightarrow \frac{{14}}{{35}}\,or\,\frac{{20}}{{35}}\]

understand that, since the denominators of the fraction are equal therefore the one having greater numerator is greater.

Hence, \[\frac{4}{7}\] is greater than the \[\frac{2}{5}\].
