Given :-

 \dfrac{2}{5x - 16}  =  \dfrac{1}{3x}

To find :-

Value of x

Solution:-

\dfrac{2}{5x - 16}  =  \dfrac{1}{3x}

Do the cross multiplication

2(3x) = 1(5x - 16)

6x = 5x - 16

Tranpose 5x to LHS

6x - 5x =  - 16

x =  \:  - 16

So, the value of x is - 16

Verification:-

Substitute value of x it should be equal to LHS = RHS

\dfrac{2}{5x - 16}  =  \dfrac{1}{3x}

 \dfrac{2}{5( - 16) - 16}  =  \dfrac{1}{3( - 16)}

 \dfrac{2}{ - 80 - 16}  =  \dfrac{1}{ - 48}

 \dfrac{2}{ - 96}  =  \dfrac{ - 1}{48}

 \dfrac{ - 1}{48}  =  \dfrac{ - 1}{48}

Since , LHS = RHS
