Given :-

$\dfrac{2}{5x - 16} = \dfrac{1}{3x}$

To find :-

Value of x

Solution:-

$\dfrac{2}{5x - 16} = \dfrac{1}{3x}$

Do the cross multiplication

$2(3x) = 1(5x - 16)$

$6x = 5x - 16$

Tranpose 5x to LHS

$6x - 5x = - 16$

$x = \: - 16$

So, the value of x is - 16

Verification:-

Substitute value of x it should be equal to LHS = RHS

$\dfrac{2}{5x - 16} = \dfrac{1}{3x}$

$\dfrac{2}{5( - 16) - 16} = \dfrac{1}{3( - 16)}$

$\dfrac{2}{ - 80 - 16} = \dfrac{1}{ - 48}$

$\dfrac{2}{ - 96} = \dfrac{ - 1}{48}$

$\dfrac{ - 1}{48} = \dfrac{ - 1}{48}$

Since , LHS = RHS
