Thymine is also referred to as 5-methyluracil, as it derived from methylation process of uracil at the position of 5th carbon. It is only found in DNA, in RNA thymine is replaced by uracil. In DNA thymine is paired with adenine by hydrogen bonds. In some specific condition like exposure to ultravoilet radiation, thymine dimers may also occur.
