For #1 all you have to do is find 2 numbers that add up to 13. 1 and 12 will work as would many other pairs.

Then just write the expression as 1/17 + 12/17 = 13/17.

For #2 just find 2 numbers whose difference is 2. 3 and 1 will work as would many other pairs.

Then just write the expression as 3/5 - 1/5 = 2/5.

It isn’t hard. For adding or subtracting fractions, the denominators don’t change, just the numerators. You DO have to get the fractions to have the same denominator, though, but that seems a little beyond this question.
