v1 = 100
s1 = 70
v2 = x
s2 = 60
s1v1 = s2v2
100 × 75 = 60 × x
x = 25×5
x = 125
v2 = 125liters
required amount of water = 125 - 100 = 25liters

Answer:

25L of water must be added to make it 60% spirit solution

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

(i)Initial case

Volume of solution=100L

Percentage of Spirit=75%

Therefore,

Volume of spirit=75L

Volume of water=100-75=25L

(ii)Final case

Percentage of spirit=60%

We know that,volume of spirit is 75L to find Amount of water added we use relation

60 =  \frac{75}{volume \: of \: solution}  \times 100 \\  =  > volume \: of \: solutiom = 125lit

The volume of solution is found as 125L.We know that already 100L of water is present.

Therefore,amount of water to be added=125-100=25L

Hence,25L of water must be added to make it 60% spirit solution
