let the total runs scored by batsman in 25innings be x

then the average of batsman will x/25

in next innings he scored 156run then

his average will be x+156/25

so x+156/26=x/25+2

x+156/26=x+50/25

{x+156}*25=(x+50)*26

25x+3400=26x+1300

3400-1300=26x-25x

2100=x

here we get the value of x

then his new average=2100+156/26

2256/26=86.76

hence:the new average of the batsman =86.76
