0.10. how far will it travel before coming to rest ?​

Distance travelled by the block before coming to rest

Solution

We know that,

when a body is in motion,

F = f

[ F - force applied]

[f - frictional force]

ma = ₩mg

a = ₩g

a = 0.1 × 10

a = 1 m/s^2

V^2 - u^2 = 2as

v = 0

u = 10m/s

a = 1m/s^2

s = ?

0^2 - (10)^2 = - 2 (1)s

100 = 2s

s = 50 m

Note:

=>assume,

as co-efficient of friction

=> negation of acceleration indicates that frictional force acting in opp. direction
