Explanation:

speed change = 20 kmh^-1

since, 20 km/h = 20 × 1000/ 60× 60 m/s

= 200/36 m/s

time taken = 5 sec

since, acceleration = change in speed / time

= 200/36 ÷5

= 200/36 × 1/5

= 40/36

=10/9

= -1.111 ms^-2

since,the speed is decreasing

or retardation = 1.11 ms^-2

Explanation:

Initial velocity of the bus: 80km/h (22.2 m/s)

Final velocity of the bus: 60km/h (16.7 m/s)

Time: 5sec

Formula of acceleration: a= v-u/t

BY SUBSTITUTION,

a= 16.7- 22.2/5

a= -5.5/5sec

a= -1.1 m/s^2. ( -5.5 goes -1.1 times in 5 table})

So,

The acceleration of the bus is -1.1 m/s^2.
