2. A car rental charge is Rs.600 per day plus Rs.10 per kilometre travelled. Determine the equation of the line that represents the daily cost by the number of kilometres travelled and graph it. If a total of 70 kilometres travelled in one day, how much is the rental company going to receive as payment?

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the total charge =y

The fixed charge =c

 Charge per km =x

So if a person travels z km , the charge ,

y=c+zx

for 12 km , charge =89

∴ 89=c+12z⟶(i)

for 20 km , charge =145

145=c+20z⟶(ii)

Solving (i) and (ii) , we get

z=Rs. 7/km

c=Rs. 5

So the charge for 30km  is y=Rs.(5+7x)

                                =Rs.(5+7×30)

                                =Rs. 215.
