A cyclist goes around a circular track once every 4 minutes and radius of the circular track is 210 m.

Firstly convert minutes into seconds.

1 min = 60 sec

4 min = 240 sec

Distance is defined as the total path covered by the body. Whereas displacement is defined as the shortest path covered by the body between initial and final points.

Assume that the cyclist starts from point A to point B, here the he covers the half of the revolution. If it returns back to point A again then it completes the one complete revolution.

Distance covered by the cyclist = Circumference of circle = 2πr

Substitute the known values,

→ 2 × 22/7 × 210

→ 1320 m

Therefore, the distance covered by the cyclist is 1320 m.

Also,

Time = Distance/Speed

Substitute the known values in the above formula,

→ 240 = 1320/Speed

→ Speed = 1320/240

→ Speed = 5.5

Therefore, the speed of the motorcyclist is 5.5 m/s.
