2 a. Explain i) Limiting friction, ii) Co-efficient of friction and iii) Cone of friction.
b. Define friction? Explain types of friction?
Answers
Explanation:
First , 2 a ) Ans :-
Limiting friction --- The maximum friction that can be generated between two static surfaces in contact with each other. Once a force applied to the two surfaces exceeds the limiting friction, motion will occur. For two dry surfaces, the limiting friction is a product of the normal reaction force and the coefficient of limiting friction.
ii) Co - efficient friction -- Coefficient of friction is defined as the ratio of the force required to move tow sliding surfaces over each other, and the force holding them together
iii) Cone of friction --- [¦kōn əv ′frik·shən] (mechanics) A cone in which the resultant force exerted by one flat horizontal surface on another must be located when both surfaces are at rest, as determined by the coefficient of static friction.
2 b ) Ans :- Friction is the force that opposes motion between any surfaces that are in contact. There are four types of friction: static, sliding, rolling, and fluid friction. Static, sliding, and rolling friction occur between solid surfaces. Fluid friction occurs in liquids and gases.
