2. A man spends (5/6) of his income on food and (1/12) on rent and the rest he saves. If he saves Rs5000, find his income?

Let his income be x. Then,
according to question
5/6x + 1/12x + 5000 = x
10x + x/12 + 5000 = x
11x/12 + 5000 = x
5000 = x - 11x/12
5000 = 12x - 11x/12
5000 = x/12
x = 5000×12
x = 60000.
Hence, his income is ₹60,000.
