2. A mass of 5 kg is acted upon by a force of 2 N. Starting from rest how much distance is covered by the mass in 10 s. ​

Given :-

☄ Mass, m = 5 kg

☄ Force acting on the mass, F = 2 N

☄ Initial velocity, u = 0 m /s ( rest )

☄ Time taken, t = 10 s

To find :-

the distance covered by the mass in 10s.

Solution :-

here mass (m) is constant

so, using Newton's 2nd law of motion .i.e.,

F = ma

➠ 2 = (5)(a)

➠ a = 2/5

➠ a = 0.4 m/s²

Now, using equation of motion .i.e.,

s = ut + 1/2 at²

➠ s = (0)(10) + 1/2(0.4)(10)²

➠ s = 0 + (0. 4)(50)

➠ s = 20 m

The distance covered by the mass in 10s is 20 m
