2. A particle starts from the origin, goes along the X-axis
to the point (20 m, 0) and then returns along the same
line to the point (-20 m, 0). Find the distance and

Answer:

It is very simple to calculate Distance and Displacement.

Distance: The Total Distance Covered by the Particle

i.e, 20(Travelled from (0, 0) to (20, 0)) + 20(Travelled back to return origin(20, 0) to (0, 0) ) + 20(Travelled from(0, 0) to (-20, 0)) = 60 m

Displacement: Net Distance Covered by the Particle

20((0, 0) to (20, 0)) + (-20)(return back to origin from (20,0) to (0, 0)) + 20((0, 0) to (-20, 0) ) = 20 m

Hope it helps!
