Answer:

a)  Distance = 62.85m and Displacement = 0m

b) Distance  = 31.42m and Displacement  = 20m

Explanation:

Solution :-

1) A person starts from a point A on the circular track and reaches A(radius of the circular path = 10m) :-

Find :- 1) Distance 2) Displacement

Given , radius of the circular path(r) = 10m

As the man travelled one complete rotation :-

Hence, Distance travelled = Circumference of the Circle

= 2\times\pi\times r

[Since , \pi = \dfrac{22}{7}]

Distance travelled by the man = \sf 2\times \dfrac{22}{7}\times 10m

= \sf\dfrac{440m}{7}

= 62.85m

As the man started from the point A and ends at the same point A, Hence the Displacement of the object = 0m

[Since, If the object started from the point and stopped at the same point then the displacement of the object = 0.]

a) Hence , Distance = 62.85m and Displacement = 0m

b) A man starts from A and Reaches B where B is diametrically opposite to A(radius of the circular path = 10m)

As the man had only travelled half revolution :-

Distance travelled by the man = circumference of Semi-circle :-

Circumference of the semi-circle = \pi\times r

= \dfrac{22}{7}\times 10m

= \dfrac{220m}{7}

= 31.42 m

Displacement of the man :-

As the man had only travelled half revolution :-

Displacement of the man = Diameter of circular path

Diameter of the circular path = 2\sf\times Radius of the circular path

= 2\sf\times 10m

= 20m

Hence, Distance of the man = 31.42m and Displacement of the man = 20m
