A piece of wire of resistance 20 ohm is drawn out so that its length is increased to twice its original length. Calculate the resistance of the wire in the new situation.​

Answer:

Given resistance= R1=20 ohm

Given length of wire=L

Therefore new length of wite=2L

Since, when the length is doubled, cross sectional area if wire becomes half.

Therefore, new resistance=R=2L/(A/2) =4L/A

R=4×20

R=80 ohm
