2. A tree is broken at a height of 5m from the ground and its top touches the ground at a
distance of 12m from the base of the tree. Find the original height of the tree.​

Given :-

Height = 5m

Distance from the base of the tree = 12m

To Find :-

The Original Height of the Tree.

Formula Used :-

\sf{{(Hypotenuse)}^{2} = {(Base)}^{2} + {(Perpendicular)}^{2}}

Solution :-

In ∆ ABC : -

(AC)² = (BC)² + (AB)²

(AC)² = (12)² + (5)²

(AC)² = 144 + 25

(AC)² = 169

\sf{{(AC)}^{\cancel{2}}={(13)}^{\cancel{2}}}

AC = 13m

So :-

Original Height of tree = 13 + 5

18 m

Therefore , The Original Height of the Tree is 18 m ..
