The answers to whether the following sentences are true or false will be stated as:

  1. The statement that the writer used fertilizers and pesticides to grow crops is False.
  2. Most of the farmers in and around the village of Peth had switched over to hybrids is True.
  3. True - Kasbai is a 'desi variety of rice.
  4. False - Basmati is less aromatic than Kasbai.
  • The writer wanted to find the desi quality of rice called Kasbai but found it very difficult as most of the other farmers had shifted over to hybrids. The writer did not want to use pesticides and fertilizers to grow his crops which these hybrids required and so tried to find the Kasbai quality which even though was had a mild smell and was less aromatic than Basmati was a better quality of rice.
