An Astrologer's Day

The story of the astrologer by R. K. Narayan depicts the life of a fake astrologer. The story has subtle humour along with an expression of the life of an ordinary human. The sudden introduction of the astrologer's past and the consequent events happening in his present life was the main plot of the story.

The astrologer was the person who tried to stab Guru Nayak in his village. So, the astrologer knew about Guru Nayak and was able to manipulate him. The astrologer convinced Guru Nayak that the person who killed him had actually been killed by a lorry. This made Guru Nayak feel gratified and felt his revenge has been met.

Thus, the astrologer wisely utilized the current situation to erase a negative event that happened in his past.
