All the objects performing revolution around earth is freely falling towards the center of the earth. It actually moves in straight line but due to gravity its path is curved and it appears to be moving around the earth. Look at the image for better understanding. So, because the satellite is falling freely under the influence of gravity, hence the motion is accelerated.
