Now 40 ohm and 100 ohm are connected in series(because they are having one common end A)

Now 40+100=140ohm

draw resistor of 140 ohm parallel to 60 ohm

you will find that 140 ohm and 60 ohm are connected in parallel (because they are having 2 common end B and C)

Now you have to calculate R effective between B and C

1/Re=1/R1+1/R2=(R1+R2)/R1R2

1/Re=(140+60)/140*60

1/Re=200/140*60

1/Re=1/42

Re=42ohm
