Answer:

1) The mother was of very old age and these had affected her memory. Thus she couldn't remember Gopi. Gopi didn't felt anything as he came there for just share of his property

2) Gopi is busy with his work in the city. He don't have much time to buy something for his mother also.

3) Gopi had a very good memory as he was a middle-aged man. But still he didn't remembered his mother as he is busy in his wife and children.

4) The expression 'The tattered Blanket' refers to the relationship between the son and mother whose relation is tattered or spoiled just like the blanket

5) When Gopi's sister asked him the question, he didn't had any answer to tell his sister. He was speechless as his sister confronted him.

6) Gopi's sister confronted Gopi because he didn't came there for Amma. If I would be in the place of Gopi's sister, I wouldn't let him to stand in the house. I couldn't bear him in the house. As the most important thing in human's life should be mother's respect. And Gopi didn't knew that. So I would have kicked him out of the house

The Answer is:

In her beautifully written emotive tale "My Tattered Blanket", Kamala Das tells the tale of a elderly mom, her unconcerned son, and the grieving mother's daughter. Gopi, a public servant who resides in Delhi, enjoys a very happy life alongside his wife Vasanta & their four kids.

1. Gopi's mother did not recognise him since she had maybe forgotten her memories. He didn't frequently go see her. That thoroughly disappointed her. He made vain attempts to persuade mom to believe he really is Gopi, her son.

2. Gopi didn't arrive to see his mother, thus he didn't buy anything at all for her. He didn't value her highly enough or possess the ethics to get her anything after so much time. His goal in coming was to sell his half of the family's land and tell his sister about that as well.

3. Gopi couldn't recall his mom. He remained constantly on the road when on trips due to the promotions. He lost track about who even his own mother was because he was preoccupied with generating income and maintaining the status quo of his family.

4. The link among the mom as well as the boy is symbolised by "the tattered blanket." The tension in the relation matched how old and beaten out all the blanket became. Gopi hadn't sent his mom any letters, neither had he made the effort to go see her.

5. Gopi knew that the answer to his sister's inquiry was yes, so he chose not to respond. He hadn't ever expressed concern for his mom, never sent her a note asking how she was doing, and hadn't even visited her to see how she was doing.

6. I would let Gopi know the things he was really doing wrong if I had been Gopi's sister. I would teach him about a son's obligation to his mother. He would be forced to think back on Amma's support and sacrifices for him.
