1. One important bevarage crop of India is Tea.

Geographical conditions-

  • Requires evenly distributed rainfall throughout the year
  • It grows well in tropical as well as subtropical climates.
  • Requires deep, fertile and well drained soil.
  • Warm and frost free climate.

2. Rice is the staple crop of India.

Regions-

  • In the plains of north and north eastern India.
  • Coastal areas.
  • Deltaic region i.e. regions having delta.

3. The various institutional reforms are as follows-

  • Provision of crop insurance against draught, cyclone and other natural disasters.
  • Credit facilities were provided to farmers.
  • Special weather forecast and bulletins were introduced on radio and telivision.
  • Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and Personal Accident Insurance Scheme (PAIS) are some other schemes introdiced by government.

4. It could give rise to some serious problems, such as-

  • To feed our ever-growing population intensive cultivation will be practised. Overuse of fertilizers will lead to salinity and depletion of micronutrients present in the soil.
  • The food productio wil be reduced. Our country had to import food grains.
  • Disguised unemployment wil prevail in our country.
  • Agro based industries have to import raw materials.
