Explanation:

1) The three states having black soil are Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. The crops, which are mainly grown in it, are cotton, Tobacco and Sugarcane.

2) Alluvial soil is found in the river deltas on the eastern coast.

Three features of alluvial soil:

# Alluvial soils are very fertile.

# They are ideal for growing sugarcane, wheat and paddy.

# The regions of alluvial soils are intensively cultivated and densely populated.

3) Following steps are taken to control the soil erosion in hilly areas:

(i) Contour ploughing: this refers to ploughing along contour lines.

(ii) Terrace farming: construction of steps along the hilly areas by cutting the rock layers to reduce the flow of rivers. (iii) Plugging of gullies to prevent gully erosion.

4) The biotic factors refer to the living components of an ecosystem.Biotic resources include all living organisms from animals and humans, to plants, fungi, and bacteria. The abiotic factors refer to the non-living, chemical and physical components of the ecosystem. Examples of abiotic factors are water, air, soil, sunlight, and minerals.
