2.Arjun had some chocolates with him. He gave one fourth of them to Arun and one-sixth of them to Varun. Arjun could do so without breaking any chocolate. Which of these could be the number of chocolates Arjun had in the beginning?

he gave one-fourth to Arun i.e. \frac{1}{4}x  

and he gave one-sixth to Varun i.e. \frac{1}{6}x

and he have total number of chocolates is x .

so we can say that the total number of chocolates is  \frac{1}{4}x+ \frac{1}{6}x

or, \frac{3x+2x}{12}

or, \frac{5x}{12}

or, x=\frac{12}{5}2.4

∴ he  had 2.4 i.e. 3(approx) number of chocolates.
