Given :

• 2 bulbs of rating 10 W , 2 fans of rating 60 W and 1 refrigerator of 1.8 kW are used 10 hours daily.

To find :

• Total energy consumed in the month of April 2020

Formula required :

• Relation between electric energy, power consumed and time

     Energy = Power × time

Solution :

▶ Calculating energy consumed per day

Using formula ; Energy = power × time

• energy consumed by 2 bulbs of 10 W per day for 10 hrs  = ( (2 × 10) × 10 ) = 200 Wh

• energy consumed by 2 fans of 60 W per day  = ( (2 × 60) × 10) = 1200 Wh
• energy consumed by 1 refrigerator of 1.8 kW per day for 10 hrs = ( (1 × (1.8 × 1000)) × 10 ) = 18000 Wh

so,

→ total energy consumed per day = 200 + 1200 + 18000 = 19400 Wh

▶ Calculating total energy consumed in 30 days (in the month of April)

→ total energy consumed in 30 days = 19400 × 30

→ total energy consumed in 30 days = 58200 Wh = 58.2 kWh  

therefore,

• 58.2 kilo watt hour of energy is consumed in April 2020.
