Answer:

this belt lies between 0° N to 5°N and 0°S to 5°S .

since the vertical rays of the sun falls on the earth, the heat is intence and the temperature is high. the air becomes warm and expands.

the convectional current also helps the heat to spread to the upper layers of the earth.

this leads to the creation of low pressure best in the region.

wind in this belt do not blow in fast pace and hence this belt is also known as the belts of calm or belts of doldrum.

Answer:

mark me as  brilliant

Explanation:

This low-pressure belt extends from 0 to 5° North and South of Equator. Due to the vertical rays of the sun here, there is intense heating. The air, therefore, expands and rises as convection current causing low pressure to develop here. This low-pressure belt is also called as doldrums because it is a zone of total calm without any breeze.
