The data represented in the graph below is curated from the open-source statistics from US Embassy. In the list of major particulate pollution rankings of cities worldwide, 14 of the 20 cities with highest pollution levels are located in India. India's financial capital Mumbai is one of the most polluted megacities across the globe. In 2013, 2014 and 2015's statistical data on air pollution, five (on an average) Indian cities ranked in top 20 polluted urban areas, but this got worse in recent years. Since 2016, 14 out of 20 most polluted megacities are in India.
