Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let 1 cup cost £X and let 1 plate cost £Y

2 cups and 3 plates cost £18

therefore; 2X+3Y=£18 _____________________ (1)

similarly,

5 cups and 1 plate costs £19

therefore; 5X+1Y=£19 _____________________ (2)

Multiplying the equation (2) by 3

we get, 15X+3Y=£57 _____________________ (3)

Subtract equations (1) from (3)

we get, 13X=39

so, X=3

Substituting the value of X in (1)

we get 2(3)+3Y=18

              6+3Y=18

                   3Y=18-6

                    3Y=12

                      Y=4

so, the cost of a cup = £3

     the cost of a plate = £4

Answer:

let the cups x

and plates y

now

2x + 3y =18.........eqn 1st

5x +y =19....,.......eqn 2nd

Step-by-step explanation:

now multiply eqn 1 by 5 ,......3rd eqn

now multiply eqn 2 by 2........4th eqn

then equations become

10x +15y =90....and 10x +2y= 38

now subtract 4th eqn from 3rd eqn

we get y =4

now put value of y in 1st eqn..,then we gat

x=3

so the cost of a cup is 3 rs

and cost of a plate is 4 rs

hope ..u understand it
