Species diversity is the variety of living organisms or species in an area. The species diversity includes species richness and species evenness. The species richness means number of species present in an area and the species evenness means their uniform distribution. The diversity of plant and animal species is not uniform throughout the world but shows rather uneven distribution. It depends on many factors like climate, temperature, rainfall etc. For example, Western Ghats have greater amphibian species diversity than Eastern Ghats.
