1. peat :-regard as first stage of coal formation,contain 30 percent carbon.

2.lignite:-second stage of coal that contain 38 percent of carbon and it is regards as lowest grade of coal

3.Bituminous coal:- third stage of coal formation and contain 65 percent carbon.

4.anthracite:-regard as highest grade of coal and contain 90 percent of carbon.
