Answer:

2.Plant material is initially taken into the Rumen, where it is processed mechanically and exposed to bacteria than can break down cellulose (foregut fermentation). The Reticulum allows the animal to regurgitate & reprocess particulate matter ("chew its cud").

3.They drink through a tube-like tongue called a proboscis. It uncoils to sip liquid food, and then coils up again into a spiral when the butterfly is not feeding.

Explanation:

the stomach of the animals is divided into 4 chambers

a) while grazing the ruminants quickly collect the food and swallow it.

b) The indigested food is then softened within the first 2 chambers of the stomach, the rumen and recticulum.

c) Bacteria in the rumen soften the cellulose making it digestable.

d) The animals bring out the semi digested food called cud

e) The animals chew it again and swallow it for the second time

f) The liquid portion from the reticulum moves to the next portion for absorbtion of water.

g) The rest of the food moves to the 4th chamber to be digested like a non ruminant animal.
