Images can be powerful ways of communicating. People instinctively respond to images based on their personalities, associations, and previous experience. Graphic designers use this instinctive response to visually communicate ideas and information by working with different tools and mediums to convey a message.
After finding a favorite book that you enjoy, encourage other students to read it by creating a new cover design. As a reminder a book jacket ideally includes:
i. A clear title and author’s name
ii. A graphic design that reflects the book’s themes
iii. A summary of the plot without giving away the ending
iv. A review (opinion) about the book
Also give a character sketch or character web about the main character/protagonist. This will help you to communicate information about the character linguistically before trying to do so visually.
You can choose a favorite book or one that you have read recently.
