A conductor easily transfers energy in the form of electricity and/or heat, while an insulator does not easily transfer these types of energy. ... the conductors can pass electricity through them due to free electrons present in them. for example: iron, copper, aluminium etc.

CONDUCTOR

1. conductors have a large numbers of free electrons.
2. they offer a very small resistance in the path of current.

INSULATOR
1. insulator have no free electrons.
2. the have a very high resistance in the path of current.
