Insolation , the amount of solar radiation received on the earth is called Insolation. It is produced in the form of short waves as electromagnetic radiation. It does not heat up the atmosphere.

Terrestrial radiation, most of the short waves produced b isolation are reflected from the earth. this causes in the heating up of the atmosphere as its source begins from the ground the lower parts are affected more. Thus with the increase in hight the decrease in temperature is caused.
