2. Differentiate between the following pairs based on the instruction given:
i) Cranial nerve and spinal nerve ( number)
ii) Sensory neuron and motor neuron (define)
iii) Sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system (mode of action)
Answers
Answer:
i) Cranial nerves go from your brain to your eyes, mouth, ears, and other parts of your head.
There are 12 Cranial nerves.
The nerves that pass information between the spinal cord and the other part of the nervous system is called spinal nerves.
There are 31 pairs of spinal nerves.
ii) Sensory neurons are nerve cells which detects the stimuli and pass the information from the Receptors to brain and spinal cord.
Motor neurons are nerve cells which carry information from the brain and the spinal cord to the effectors.
iii) Both of the nervous system are types of autonomic nervous system. They both control involuntary actions.
The parasympathetic nerves emerge from the top portion of the spinal cord including medullla.
The symphatic nerves emerge from the below portion of the spinal cord.
The parasympathetic nervous system controls works like digesting food and all type of involuntary actions.
The symphatic nervous system controls fight and flight responses that is the reflex action responses.
