One of his greatest influences was his mentor Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, a German philosopher and important figure in German Idealism. Max Stirner was another German philosopher influenced by Hegel, who Marx criticized extensively but who also was a significant influence on Marx. Marx was also influenced by the socialist ideas that came before him, such as Utopian socialism. Ultimately, he rejected all of the ideas I’ve previously listed, but took aspects of all of them to create his own ideas.
