x²+ 5x + 8 = 0

discriminant,

∆=b²-4ac

∆=(5)²-4(1)(8)

=25-32

= -7<0

hence it has no real roots

x²+ 5x + 8 = 0

by using quadratic formula,

[-b±√(b²-4ac)]/2a

= (-5±√-7)/2(1)²

=(-5±√-7)/2

roots are (-5+√-7)/2 and (-5-√-7)/2
