Example 1: Suppose in a Triangular Path a car starts moving from point A to B then to C. All this length travelled by it is the distance. But if instead of going from A to B to C, the car moves directly to C from A, this will be the displacement because displacement is a shortest distance covered by a body from starting point to ending point.
Example 2: Now suppose in a circular path a car starts moving from point A and ends at the same point A. So, this will be the distance . And here the displacement will be zero because there is no way to cover a short distance in a circular path .
