By Splitting the middle term,

(a)

 {2y}^{2}  + 7y + 3 = 0

 {2y}^{2}  + 6y + y + 3 = 0

2y(y + 3) + 1(y + 3) = 0

(2y + 1)(y + 3) = 0

y =  \frac{ - 1}{2}  \: or \:  - 3

(b)

 {3b}^{2}  - 13b + 4 = 0

 {3b}^{2}  - b - 12b + 4 = 0

b(3b - 1) - 4(3b - 1) = 0

(b - 4)(3b - 1) = 0

b = 4 \: or \:  \frac{1}{3}

(c)

 {2t}^{2}  - t - 10 = 0

 {2t}^{2}  + 4t - 5t - 10 = 0

2t(t + 2) - 5(t + 2) = 0

(2t - 5)(t + 2) = 0

t =  \frac{5}{2}  \: or \:  - 2
