we know that hypotenuse (side opposite to a right angle) = base²+altitude²

also given that

AB=BC

therefore taking them as equal

So let them be x

Here

Hypotenuse=√8

Base& Altitude=x (AB & BC)

x²+x²=√8²

2x²=8

x²=8/2

x²=4

x=√4

x=2

therefore the sides AB and BC are 2cm .
