Solution :-

Class ----------- Fi

129.5-134.5---- 5

134.5-139.5---- 15

139.5-144.5----24

144.5-149.5----28

149.5-154.5---- 17

154.5-159.5---- 8

159.5-164.5---- 3

----------⅀Fi = 100

from data, highest frequency class = 144.5 - 149.5 = mode class .

  • Mode = l + [(f1 - f0) / (2f1 - f0 - f2)] * h .

from data we have :-

  • Lower limit of mode class = l = 144.5
  • Size of class = 5 = h .
  • f1 = frequency of mode class = 28 .
  • f0 = frequency of previous class = 24 .
  • f2 = frequency of next class = 17 .

Putting all values we get :-

→ Mode = 144.5 + [(28 - 24) / (2*28 - 24 - 17)] * 5

→ Mode = 144.5 + [4/(56 - 41)] * 5

→ Mode = 144.5 + (4/15) * 5

→ Mode = 144.5 + 1.33

→ Mode = 145.83 (Ans.)
