Given:-

AD = 2cm, XY = 2cm, DC = 8cm,

BC = 10cm

•°• XZ = BC = 10cm and QS = DC = 8cm.

As the given figure forms rectangle and LMNO square.

To find:-

Area of Shaded region.

Solution:-

Area of rectangle ABCD = BC × DC

= 10 × 8 = 80 cm²

now,

Area of rectangle PQSR= QS × PQ

= 2 × 8 = 16 cm²

And,

Area of rectangle XZTY = XY× XZ

= 2 × 10 = 20 cm²

now,

Area of Shaded region = A(□ABCD) - ( A(□PRSQ) + A(□XZTY) )

= 80 - (16 + 20)

= 80 - 36 = 44 cm²

Answer

Area of Shaded region is 44cm²
