2. Find the equations of the straight lines parallel to the coordinate axes and passing
through the point (-5,-2).

Hi ....here is your answer....

..For First line which is parallel to x axis,
Makes an angle of 0° with x axis
so it's slope m= tan0° = 0 ......
the equations of line which passes through (-5,-2) and m= 0 is

..

.again for second line which is parallel to y axis makes an angle of 90° which x axis ,
so it's slope m= tan90 = undefined!!....
see picture!!!.....

..... hence First equation will be y+2= 0.
and second one will be x+5= 0..

From the attachment above ,

i ) Equation of a line parallel to X-axis

passing through the point ( -5, -2 )

is y = - 2 ,

ii ) Equation of a line parallel to

y-axis passing through the point

( -5 , -2 ) is x = -5
