Given :- Find the values of x and y in the following figure .

Solution :-

in given ∆ let,

  • ∠1 = 70°
  • ∠2 = 80°
  • ∠3 = y

so,

→ ∠1 + ∠2 + ∠3 = 180° (By angle sum property.)

→ 70° + 80° + y = 180°

→ 150° + y = 180°

→ y = 180° - 150°

→ y = 30° (Ans.)

now, we know that,

  • Exterior angle is equal to sum of opposite two interior angles .

so,

→ x = ∠1 + ∠2

→ x = 70° + 80°

→ x = 150° (Ans.)

hence, x is equal to 150° and y is equal to 30° .
