2. For the circuit shown in below Figure, determine the p.d across resistor R3. If the
total resistance of the circuit is 100 ohm, determine the current flowing through

GIVEN: V1= 10V , V2= 4V , V3=?

Total voltage (p.d)= 25V

Total resistance= 100 ohm

V=V1+V2+V3

25=10+4+V3

therefore,, V3= 25-14, V3= 11V

R=R1+R2+R3

R=V1/I +V2/I +V3/I

100 = 1/I (25)

therefore,, I = 25/100,= 0.25 A

NOW,,

R2 = V2/I , = 4/0.25= 4*100/25.

that is , R2= 16 ohm.
