It is a series of membrane -bound tubes and chambers within the cell. Its existences remained unknown until the electron microscope bacame available. The endoplasmic reticulum may be studded with a large number ribosomes, giving it a rough appearance. The endoplasmic reticulum sores fat and protein and serves as the cell's transport system
