→ Two Gentleman of Verona is a beautiful short story by A.J Cronin. It is the tale of two boys Nicola and Jacopo who through their kinda sacrifice and courage force the narrator to address them as Gentlemen! Both of them were quite young , still they took the task of getting their tuberculosis inflicted sister treated on their shoulders .

→ Destiny played cruel with them . First they lost their father , then their home . to add on , they discovered that their sister was suffering from tuberculosis of spine . Though they had always known a cultured and comfortable life , still they didn't look for shoulders to lean upon. With conviction and courage , they faced all the odds that life presented ! Since then , they did all types of Jobs from selling wild strawberries , polishing shoes to hawking newspapers etc. They spent nothing on themselves . In a way , their life was dedicated to the service of their sick sister .

→ Their selfless act towards their sister brings a new hope to the society . How even after so many difficulties and challenges , they remained intact . They didn't lose hope. Neither did they reveal their problems to anyone as they didn't want any pity or sympathy . These qualities - traced in young lads forces the narrator to address them as "Two Gentleman of Verona" with their selfless acts promising a new hope to the society !
