The smell of hot sizzling food
reaches you several metres
away, but to get the smell from
cold food you have to go close.​

The smell of hot sizzling food make the air around it hot and increases it's kinetic energy which spread them far away and moves faster.... and also the diffusion takes place in gases faster... that is why we get the smell of hot food several meters away

When food is hot, diffusion is more. But in cold food diffusion is slow. Hence to get the smell from cold food we have to go close.
