I. On one’s hands and knees , as in Seven of us were on all fours, looking for the lost earring in the sand. In this idiom fours refers to the four limbs .
ii. :to begin to be understood or realised by (someone) for the first time The solution finally dawned on him. It suddenly dawned on me that I hadn’t eaten all day .

iii. Be totally wasted
